Perette Arrington is in her fourth season as graduate assistant coach of the volleyball program.
She is pursuing a doctoral degree in professional psychology at GW after earning a master's degree in counseling psychology from Howard University in 1997.
A 1995 graduate of Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ, with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology, Arrington was a four-year starter at middle hitter for the Pirates' volleyball team from 1991-94. She was a three-time All-Big East Conference first team selection ('92, '93 ,'94) and won Mid-East Region honors in 1994. She won the squad's Best All-Around Player award in both '93 and '94 and was named Seton Hall's Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year in '92. In her final season at The Hall, she led the Pirates in kill percentage, blocks and service aces. Arrington's impressive performance at the net helped the Pirates capture a share of the Big East regular-season title in both 1992 and '94.
Prior to joining the Colonials' staff, she was the head volleyball coach at Wilson High School in 2000 after serving as the assistant coach there in 1999. She has been one of the head coaches of the DC Juniors Volleyball Club for the past four years and served as the head coach of the junior varsity squad at Sidwell Friends School in 1997.
Her teams have posted a combined 50-20 overall record (45-1 in DCIAA League competition) and she was named the 2002-03 Public School Coach of the Year by the Women in Sports Foundation & The Washington DC Community Action Program. In addition, she was the first recipient of the Woodrow Wilson H.S. Coach of the Year Award (2003).
At George Washington, she is responsible for team travel, interoffice and Atlantic 10 Conference correspondence and assisting with practices and match preparation.The Fort Washington, MD, native also served as an instructor at the Nike Volleyball camp at GW last year. Arrington resides in Washington, DC.
